On Turning 67

On Turning 67

Three days ago I turned 67.

Yesterday someone asked, what does it feel like to be 67?

Truthfully, it feels no different from the day before or even turning 66. I'm not thinking differently, I don't feel different. (Well, maybe a few more aches and pains) Looking at pictures from a year ago, I don't look different.

So, what is different?

I am a bit wiser. I know I have become even calmer in my reactions to life around me. I am more open and more understanding of others. I am more focused on enjoying whatever time I have left to me. I still think of myself as younger than I am. And, I think much younger than I am. I am becoming an elder of the tribe.

My circle of friends is mostly younger than me, from a few years to many years younger. This helps to keep me on my toes, mentally as well as physically. The 20's something friends are especially good at this. They do not accept stock answers, why?, is often a response.

I love Life; I still want to experience new adventures. I look forward to each day. And while I make plans I try to stay in the now, the present. I set goals for the year and that is about as far as I go. Simply, I want each year to be a stepping stone for the next year. Besides, the Universe often brings us far more and better than we canever conceive.

What are the goals of a newly turned 67 year old?

I have five areas I am going to work with this year:

* Relationships - Build a lasting relationship. It's been over 6 years since I've been in a relationship and I feel it is time to explore this avenue again

* Health - Lose 35 pounds, and start walking daily, stop smoking

* Spirituality - Continue to grow and walk my path, attend a couple of workshops or classes

* Financial - A new stream of income, increase my savings

* Material Things - A new vehicle, new place to live

Most importantly, these three words to follow: Abundance, Gratitude, Growth.

I have rambled on enough for one day. Looking back over this, I have indeed rambled but, that's the name of this blog.

Welcome to My World

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!"
Where it comes from I have no idea but it's one of the many variations on the quote:
"Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger"
Lord of The Rings – who cares, I like it!
"
What is this blog about? The Gods only know...I sure don't. Rest assured it will be varied. Comments on current affairs, obscure news items just to name a few. It will have my thoughts and ideas on many things, common as well as strange. Wiccan/Pagan topics will appear from time to time after all, I am a Pagan and have been for almost 20 years. Comments are always welcome. Please follow good web etiquette. Flames, especially if aimed at other commenter's will be deleted. Also to be deleted, “save my soul” and “you will go to hell” posts. My soul is in good hands and I do no believe in hell as usually defined. (We create enough hell here on earth.)
As to a posting schedule, that is yet to be decides. Most likely not more than one a week. In the beginning it may not be that often.
One of the first posts will be about Wiccan/Paganism and what we are and are not. So, with all that covered...
A short introduction
Eclectic would be the best description (some might say weird), interests range all over the spectrum-About to turn 67, still love life - So many things I still want to do - My family and friends are the greatest- I am an easy going adventurer. I read a lot, travel when I can, love being outdoors, and try to always enjoy the moment. I dabble in art, and have many other interests. Also dabble in writing, mostly poetry.

Fully retired now, broke but happy with life. Love the arts, do some myself. I love to encourage others. Visit our excellent public library often. Almost a fixture there :) I love art, seeing and doing, live theater, all creative efforts. Love reading, walks in the woods, water, moonlight. Favorite music-jazz, classical but have and listen to all types. I play around with astrology, am spiritually oriented, try to treat all as brothers and sisters. I try to live each day to the fullest.

If it's edible, I'll try it...If it's readable, I'll read it...SciFi/Fantasy is my fav...TV, very seldom...If the temp is above 55, I'm probably in shorts and a Tee...

See you next time.

And now for a serious quote:

"An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind — Mahatma Gandhi"
